Interview with Mario Baldi, CEO of Scheer GmbH about ERP 2018

Topic 1: Intelligent and autonomous enterprise software (AI, machine learning)
Question: To what extent will business software be able to make intelligent and autonomous decisions by 2018?

Autonomous, intelligent decision making through software will be the next big step in the development of process automation. In 2018 the first intelligent software robots will become established, in particular in the area of RPA (robotic process automation). A decisive factor in the success of RPA will be the simplification of the creation process for software robots in a way that makes the technology accessible for the greatest number of companies. Self-learning software robots will play a particular role in this.

However, the increasing automation of decisions also creates anxieties. Because of the increasing speed with which decisions need to be made, further automation in companies is unavoidable in order to remain competitive. These concerns can be met decisively by looking at current developments in the area of process mining and AI as these offer the necessary solutions for the intelligent control of automated processes. To summarize: In future, the monitoring of automated processes and, where necessary, automated corrective interventions will belong to the most important tasks we need to address.
